why opportunities aren't coming to you

(The 'Information Flow' Model)

Most people struggle in life.

Whether it's a financial struggle, struggling to find purpose, or just feeling stuck in life.

It wouldn't be the case if people understood the power of sharing.

It's about letting the information in your brain flow to others - to create a positive impact - and being rewarded as a result.

When I used to work as a freelance video editor, I ran into some problems:

  • I got stuck in client work

  • Most of the projects drained my energy

  • I couldn't prioritize my own project

I felt like - if I left a client - I would go back to $0 in record time.

Here's the interesting thing though, not only does this happen to freelancers, but people in general:

  • Doctors

  • Engineers

  • Lawyers

We feel "secure" because we have one stream of income, but if something happens, we can find ourselves struggling financially.

We get stuck.

However, there's a solution to this.

It has to do with the law of reciprocity and how anyone can use it to their advantage - and share their life philosophy, insights, and knowledge - to reap the rewards of their goodwill.

Every Person Knows Something

I know something.

You know something.

With every second that passes by, everyone is learning or doing something.

If I invest 30 days into learning writing, I already know more than all the people in the world who didn't invest that time in that field.

While I invest those 30 days learning writing, others are learning other stuff in other fields:

  • My twin is learning about YouTube automation

  • My oldest brother learns about laws

  • One of my cousins is getting better at programming

This is how it should be, because - since we are an interdependent society - we need each other to survive.

People acquire more and more knowledge as the years go by and they develop themselves within specific fields in life.

But something interesting happens here; if we observe the nature of the Universe, everything flows:

  • Water flows through rivers

  • Money flows through markets

  • Information flows through systems

When things flow naturally, life works.

The same is true with the information you have in your brain:

Letting the information in your brain flow can be the key to leveling up your character in life.

Not doing so, can lead to not resonating with the nature of the Universe, and therefore not being able to reap the rewards that life has at our disposal.

The Law Of Information Flow

Think about a time when you started learning something within a specific field.

  • Do you remember the challenges you faced?

  • The learning curve you go through?

  • The insights gained after overcoming said challenges?

I'm sure you do.

No matter how small the challenge you went, or are going through in life, you’re getting direct experience with reality with every second that passes by.

I do remember the challenges I faced when I started my video editing journey.

If I observe closely, there are people going through a similar situation to the one I faced in the past.

I thought, why don't I create guides to help the younger version of myself?

  • The tutorial I would have loved to have

  • The things I wasn’t aware of

  • The “avoid this, do this instead”

So, I went ahead and started creating the content I wish I had back when I started.

After sharing my knowledge without expecting anything in return, I was able to:

  • Grow an organic audience on YouTube to 18k subs

  • Make my first $10k online

  • Impact a lot of people in a positive way

All because I just decided to share what I knew.

The Law Of Reciprocity

When you share without expecting in return, you leverage the Law of Reciprocity in your life.

This law stands that people tend to feel like they 'owe' you something if you provide value to them. This can take any form:

  • They become your followers

  • They engage with your ideas

  • They potentially buy your products

This doesn't mean that we provide value to expect people to “buy” our stuff.

It means that - if your value is great for other people, and you have the best intention at heart when creating it - your efforts will bring rewards.

The good news is that this principle can be applied to any field.

Quick Note

I hope you’re enjoying the letter so far.

I’m passionate about what I do right now, and I’m fully committed to helping other people do the same.

The way I’m doing this is by creating content on X, YouTube, and newsletters.

But I wanted to do something more:

I decided to launch a 1:1 mentoring program to help people from my audience directly with personalized calls.

I genuinely love jumping on calls and helping people who resonate with my ideas.

I’ve done one-time calls in the past and loved those.

But now I’m ready to take people with me, on a 1:1 program, and do my best to help them achieve the results I’ve been able to achieve online.

Unfortunately, I can’t help everyone.

So, if you’re interested:

With that said, let’s keep going with the letter.

How To Level Up In Life (No Matter The Field)

Education is essential for human growth.

You educate yourself, but you can also educate others.

And no, it's not about becoming a teacher - even though you could - it's about opening opportunities for yourself by operating under goodwill.

A good benefit is that you reinforce your knowledge when you teach it to others.

You organize the ideas in your mind and this leads to better communication skills.

I want to go over some examples here:

My brother Jeff

My brother Jeff knows a lot about laws, and he works at a law court.

He usually talks about seeing newbies entering their job, and that reminds him of when he was starting.

Jeff usually says that these newbies seem lost sometimes, and some guidance would be helpful.

I was talking to him and suggested that he can start sharing what he knows:

  • Content that educates others

  • Guides for his younger self

  • Paid products for engaged people in his audience

A lot of people would benefit from this, and he can create another stream of income - so he doesn't rely only on his 9-5 job.

My cousin Luis

My cousin Luis is an excellent programmer with over 10+ years of experience in this field.

This guy knows stuff when it comes to coding.

He also says that online courses have helped him a lot in his learning growth.

Imagine if Luis created content, guides, and potentially a course around the stuff he knows.

It would be such a game changer for the people who resonate with his style of teaching.

Plus, he can leverage the law of reciprocity and benefit from it.

My Cousin Dago

My cousin Dago is passionate about hiking.

He wants to start a small business around this.

I suggested to start by:

  1. Recognizing the value he has

  2. Why it's important to him, the benefits it has

  3. And share (in a persuasive way) how that is beneficial to other people

With this, he isn't just another tour guide. He goes beyond and shares how hiking can impact anyone's life in really good ways.

By doing this, he shows that he cares about human well-being, and shows his commitment to educating other people on living a healthy lifestyle.

How You Can Start Sharing What You Know

Beginners

If you're a beginner within a specific field, documenting your journey of becoming good in that field is your best option:

  1. You define what you want to learn first

  2. You document how you get good at it

  3. Your build-in public strategy shows commitment

In this way, you can share the reason why you're in that field, and how you plan to impact society positively with your service.

You see, that's why it is important to think about the field you want to get into.

Because if you're developing yourself within a field that doesn't impact people in a positive way, then what's the point of doing it?

Advanced

If you're advanced, then you just need to start sharing what you know.

In the modern world, here's the best way to do it:

  1. Before you start, you need to create yourself a Life Project

    • Without a Life Project, you can get lost on why you're sharing your knowledge in the first place.

    • In this previous letter, I explain how to create your Life Project.

  2. Start by creating a summary of all the things you know

    1. The 'Why' your field is important

    2. The fundamentals

    3. The practical information

  3. After you list what you know, start creating your own resources

    1. The beginner guide you wish you had at the beginning

    2. How to solve common problems

    3. The benefits of solving said problems

  4. Once you are clear with your first resources, create content

    1. Create short-form content on any platform that fits your needs. For example:

      1. Jeff could use X or Instagram reels to share law knowledge.

      2. Luis could use Instagram carousels to explain coding concepts.

      3. Dago could create Instagram reels and carousels talking about the benefits of hiking and having a healthy lifestyle.

    2. The goal with short-form is to share insights, not just give away all the value.

    3. Then, create long-form content on YouTube:

      1. 8-10-minute videos to start sharing deep insights on what you know.

      2. The idea is to add more depth here and create trust.

Wrap Up

To wrap up all the information in this letter:

When you are creative enough to share the knowledge you have, you let the information in your brain flow to others, and - if this information is helpful - a positive impact will be created, therefore the law of reciprocity will work in your favor by returning opportunities to you. The quality of the opportunities you get will be a reflection of the intention you had in the first place.

Thanks so much for reading this letter.

See you in the next one,

Pablo.
