The Truth Religions Ignore About God
(the Bible is not a book about religion)
The Bible is considered a book about religion.
But we humans don't like to be told what to do:
Don't have sex before marriage
Go to church
Pray everyday
It seems like a bunch of rules established by other humans who wanted to control people through fear.
This causes people to separate from God and do their own thing.
But with no guidance or authority over us, we fall into our emotional desires, and this causes problems for all of us.
And when we try to look for solutions everywhere…
Many of us ignore the only source of the real answers: The Bible.
This letter is not to impose a belief or convince anyone…
Instead, I want to clarify what the Bible is about.
It took me research, guidance, prayer, and personal experiences to start discovering this myself.
Hopefully, I can share this clarity with you as well.
Is the Bible a Religion?
Many people think that the Bible is a book about religion, but it's not.
Jesus did not preach the gospel of a specific religion… Jesus did something different.
According to Myron Golden:
Religion can be defined as an ideology (or set of rules) that somebody (or a group of people) tells you to follow, so that you will be closer to God or you will be more like God.
In fact, something I also learned from Myron is that the first religion on earth was initiated by Satan.
And we can clearly see this in Genesis:
God commands Adam and Eve to freely eat from every tree of the garden except from one tree: the tree of good & evil.
But then something happens:
4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
The key phrase here is "ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil".
This religion is called hedonism:
Humans attempt to take God's role and start defining what's good and what's evil on their own.
Modern Days.
Fast forward to the modern days, and many religions have been established:
Catholicism
Budhism
Judaism
And many more
But if we observe, religions contradict each other a lot.
It makes us wonder, which religion is right?
This confusion is the reason why a lot of people don't commit to learning more about God.
And it's also a clear sign of why the religious approach towards God is not as effective as religious leaders would like it to be.
So What's the Bible Really About?
If the Bible is not a book about religion, what is it about?
Jesus didn't preach the gospel of religion…
Jesus preached the gospel of a kingdom.
The Bible is a practical book about a kingdom.
A verse that shows this is found in Mathew:
17From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Later on Mathew 6, we also find a very popular verse:
33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Romans 8:4-6 shows men as kings.
Revelation 1:4-6 shows Jesus as the prince of kings.
Philippians 2:5-8 shows Jesus as a servant king.
With this, it's clear that the Bible is referring to a kingdom.
But wait, what is the kingdom of God?
To answer this question, we must understand 2 things:
What's the definition of a kingdom
What's the definition of God's kingdom
Not understanding this can lead to confusion, which is what happens to many believers.
What's a Kingdom?
Democratic republic countries don't have kingdoms.
That's why most of us don't understand what a kingdom is.
In a democratic republic, the government is of the people, for the people, by the people.
In a kingdom, the government is of the king, for the king, by the king.
The word "kingdom" is a derived word:
King + dom
Which means the king's dominion
The word "dominion" means realm
A kingdom is the realm over which the king reigns.
The Kingdom of God.
The Kingdom of God is the realm over which God reigns.
God is the king of everything.
God created the earth as an expansion of heaven.
Heaven gives earth meaning, but earth gives heaven expression.
God's intention is to expand his heavenly kingdom on Earth; that's why the Bible keeps mentioning the word kingdom.
God also created Adam (men & women) in his image (heavenly realm).
Men and women are God like creators with flesh and blood (physical realm).
Jesus was a servant king.
It's also God's intention for us to become his servant kings & queens, so that we can represent his kingdom here on earth.
How do we become servant Kings & Queens?
When we yield to God as our king, we become a servant king or queen over the assignment God created us for.
This assignment is like our life's purpose or calling, and it's intended for us to serve other people.
Here’s where things start to make sense.
Because the guidance for us to yield to God and understand our assignment is the word God gave us: the Bible.
When we yield to God as our king, we have kingdom awareness.
When we have kingdom awareness, we are able to study the word of God and truly understand what it’s saying.
God's Approach.
God is not an oppressive king; his intention is not to control.
God gave us free will.
It's up to us to decide whether or not we want to yield to his kingdom.
Jesus was a servant king; he was the physical representation of God's heavenly kingdom.
Jesus also came to save us from sin.
And when we accept Jesus, we can walk in purity, not out of fear or rules or legalism - which most of the time causes people to sin - but out of grace.
Grace is a gift we give to God as a form of appreciation for giving us his son to pay for the sins of the world.
Society Problems.
But most people just:
get distracted
sin
live a life of doing what they feel like
no boundaries or values
And this causes problems, pains, unfulfillment, and confusion.
People try to do their own thing without God, but the disconnection is still there.
Every day we face choices, we can either do the right thing or the wrong thing.
Wrong is easy and right is hard.
Also, we can observe society and see all the problems that arise when people are disconnected from God:
Emotional issue
Health issues
Financial problems
The purpose of salvation is to restore the kingdom of God to man.
Not to wait for Jesus to come by, only preaching
Or by following the rules
Or by living under fear
It's about reading the word of the king of kings and applying it to our lives.
Reconnecting to Truth.
When we reconnect to God and implement his principles, we improve our lives.
We also become the light for others.
You see, there’s a point where people get tired of feeling lost and confused.
And they start looking for solutions.
When we are the representation of the kingdom of God, serving as servant kings and queens (by having our own assignment) people will start looking up to us.
When you serve enough people, long enough… some of those people will start looking for ways to give value back to you!
And all these things will be added unto you:
The food
The clothes
The house
The income
God has built within us the law of reciprocity.
When you serve people, they will give back to you.
But the focus is not on the bonuses; the focus is on serving the kingdom.
Life on Earth is not a vacation, nor a punishment → it is our opportunity to represent the kingdom of God in the best of our abilities!
